Covenant and What it Means in Partnership
Covenant is a word that is little understood or used in today’s society. So first let’s look at what covenant means and how a covenant effects our lives. Covenant from the Strong’s in the Hebrew that the Old Testament or also called by Jesus the Old Covenant definition is: ‘make an alliance or bargain, originally by cutting flesh and passing between the pieces):—be chewed ( the practice of chew food for one that is less able to do so much as a mother prechews food for a child that is un able to do so), cut (down, off), destroy, fail, feller, be freed, hew (down), make a league ([covenant]); a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh): an allowance:—certain portion, sure.’ From the Greek the meaning is: ‘a disposition, that is, (specifically) a contract (especially a devisory will): covenant, testament. abide, appoint, bring, continue, establish, hold up, lay, present, set (up), stanch, stand (by, forth, still, up). acknowledge:— con- (pro-) fess, confession is made, give thanks, promise. to consent (bargain, stipulate), concur:—agree assent, covenant.’ Webster says this: covenir to agree, from Latin convenire 1 : a usually formal, solemn, and binding agreement : COMPACT 2 a : a written agreement or promise usually under seal between two or more parties especially for the performance of some action. This is what the Britannica Encyclopedia says: ‘In the Hebrew scriptures, an agreement or treaty among peoples or nations, but most memorably the promises that God extended to humankind.’ It goes on to say this about you and I today ‘Christians see the New Testament as the fulfillment of the promise of the Old Testament. It recounts the life and ministry of Jesus and interprets their meaning for the early church, focusing especially on the new covenant created between God and the followers of Jesus.’
It is exciting to see that you and I have an agreement with God that is a binding contract that cannot be rescinded. Hebrews 6:9 says; ‘But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.’ God has given you and I a better covenant than ever before in time through Jesus Christ.
>What does that mean to us in partnership? Webster definition of Partnership is; ‘the state of being a partner : PARTICIPATION 2 a : a legal relation existing between two or more persons contractually associated as joint principals in a business b : the persons joined together in a partnership 3 : a relationship resembling a legal partnership and usually involving close cooperation between parties having specified and joint rights and responsibilities.’ This tells you of the rights that you have in partnership with Cowboy Church Ministries and the work for the furtherance of the Gospel together.
